On July 3rd 2020 this Metal duo from Derby released their debut single, ‘House of Stone’, to the world. Blending elements of heavy metal, with an eerie, yet captivating melody, Inside Information have arrived on to the new music scene with a bang. But who are Inside Information? Well, lets go from the beginning….
Victoria Hodgson (vocals) and Anthony Yeomans (guitar) are the enthusiastic couple that make up Inside Information.
“….we met while doing a music course at college….and actually started dating before we really started to perform together outside of the college….” Anthony
Drawn together by their shared love of all things Metal the pair began to perform as a covers band in various bars in and around Derby.
“….when we started, we did have someone else who played with us and we just played covers and built up a bit of a reputation for it in the area….” Victoria
Sadly however, the third member of the trio continued on to University, forcing them all to make a tough choice.
“….we just felt that having to go backwards and forwards from University and all that would just be too much for us all at that point, so we sort of went our separate ways….” Anthony
At this point Anthony and Victoria made the decision to continue on, performing as a duo with Victoria on vocal and Anthony picking up his acoustic guitar. They filled their sets with reworked Rock classics and Heavy Metal hits but soon that creative itch began to grow.
“….we’d sort of started writing our own songs and just felt like we’d rather be known for those, than for the covers….” Victoria
So the pair threw themselves into writing their own material. With Anthony’s Heavy Metal leaning and Victoria’s influence from Amy Lee (evanescence), it wasn’t long before they found a sound that worked.
“….being a couple helped, I think, during the writing process as we could be open and honest with each other, like I might come up with quite a heavy riff on the guitar….” Anthony
“….and I’d just say, how do you think I’m supposed to sing over that, then we’d work and tweak it into something else….” Victoria
As well as their strong bond of trust in each other, the other vital thing this young duo has is a strong support system.
“….we’ve got loads of support, from family, and friends….Anthony’s dad actually has a little portable mixer so comes down to our gigs, sets up his laptop and helps do our sound for us….” Victoria
Taking this encouragement, Inside Information was born and they began to put together the final touches on what would be their debut single.
“….I just think that if we didn’t have the support we have, we wouldn’t even be recording anything, let alone releasing a single….” Anthony
Building on this solid foundation of confidence that was born from the belief of their family and friends, Anthony and Victoria, aka, Inside Information, are already beginning work on their follow up songs and even have their eye on releasing an EP in the near future. So with one release under their belts and the world opening up before them, heres hoping their support base keeps growing and that they can ride the churning wave of passion straight towards centre stage.
