Taxi With Strangers

Letting loose is one of those phrases that have rarely had an outing over the past twelve months. Between dire warnings thrown out on the news, to the whiplash caused by the opening and closing of social watering holes, it’s easy to forget that admits all of this chaos and confusion you still need to take the time to have a bit of fun and forget things, if only for a moment. So with their latest single, Taxi With Strangers aim to reignite that positive energy and urge people to simply, ‘Let loose’.

Using their trademark energy akin to The Strokes meets Catfish and the Bottlemen, TWS produce a jumpy and guitar driven track that fills you with energy and movement from the get go. Continuing their ability to capture that raw indie sound the band not only weave the sentiment of letting loose into the words of the track but also engrain it into the very music at its heart. In particular when the hook itself of “….Let loose….” Kicks in, the band break into a free for all,  beat driven chorus that breaks from the uniformity of the verses. This habit of personifying their messaging into their music is slowly becoming a staple of TWS sound (see our review of ‘Time’).

Lyrically the song takes up the mantel of being straight to the point and honest with its wording. “….Take away the stress, its all a bit of fun….” Is just one example of the straight forward messaging tied into the lyrics. The song also contains a very sincere pre-chorus that sums up everything that we may have forgotten in these chaotic times, “….We all need some sort of escape….” This one line, delivered with meaning, seems to be letting their listeners know, ‘its okay to enjoy yourself once in a while, so do it’. Again, this sentiment adds to the overall honest and warm atmosphere created by this song.

Overall this latest release from the Lancashire quartet is one they can be proud of. It further highlights their ability to mould their message into the very essence of their songs and so hit the listener with their message with every note. Its a true indie inspired track that showcases the ever growing potential of this up and coming band.
